In case you are wondering…..it was fancy dress!! …and the partners are in drag (not a regular occurance I might add!)The awards were combined with our Christmas party which was held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on December 12th 2009. From left to right, Darran Jennings, Dannielle Davis, Paul James

Well done to Dannielle Davis for winning Manor Vets employee of the year 2009! We hold this award every year and each memeber of Manor Vets staff vote for the winner. These are the lovely comments that our staff have made about Danni:

“Danni makes everyone’s life a little bit easier, with being so helpful, brilliant with her role and always with a smile!”

”Danni is full of life and a hard worker, and an important team player”

“Great to have around, she has matured this year, completes all her roles to a high standard and then takes on more, she is a real team player, on top of her kennel duties…… she assists the nurses…. runs bloods…..and looks after the lab equipment and she presents and maintains the items on sale in the waiting room”

In second place was Emma Timmins, Emma is one of our receptionists based at Cradley Heath. Well done Emma!

In third place was Debbie Poston. Debbie works upstairs in the office at Halesowen and cordinates and organises all the ‘direct’ insurance claims. Well done Debbie. (Debbie is the one with the mustache!)

Danni Davies also won the Halesowen branch winner, and Emma Timmins also won the Cradley Heath branch winner. Laura Yates won the Edgbaston Branch winner and Gemma Kirby the Northfield winner. The Northfield Branch also won ‘best branch team 2009′. Well done to you all.

And not forgetting Melissa Cox who won best fancy dress costume!! Well done Mel!

We are very pleased to tell you that we have now restricted the parking in front of our Halesowen surgery to OUR CLIENTS ONLY, this means its much easier to park. See our recent press article below:

A HALESOWEN veterinary surgery has been forced to issue parking tickets due to inconsiderate drivers preventing sick animals being treated.

Manor Vets, on Kent Road, have employed a parking enforcement firm to patrol their land after continual problems with people using their 12 car parking spaces.

Any cash that Manor Vets receive from parking tickets on their land will be 100% donated to animal charities. The Animal House rescue centre in Bartley Green has been selected to receive the cash this year.

Darran Jennings, partner of Manor Vets, said: “Although it can be busy at all times of the day, between 4.30pm and 7pm is particularly busy, with people going to the neighbouring shops using our car parking spaces.

“We have several instances when owners have had to negotiate the main road and walk over a hundred yards with traumatised animals. Regular client and integral member of Midland Animal Rescue, Beveley Hill described the change as “fantastic, I often have 2 or 3 cat baskets and I need to be able to park directly outside the surgery. These changes will make such a difference!”

“We are celebrating our 27th year on this site and we have had a great relationship with the local community.”

He added: “So we have thought long and hard about issuing parking tickets because we do not want to annoy anyone but our first duty of care has to be to the animals that we treat.

“When people bring in their beloved pet to be treated or even put down, it can be a very emotional experience and it should be made as easy as possible for the owners and animals to get to our surgery.”

He added: “And as a sign of good faith we will be giving the money we receive in fines to the Animal House Charity who do some wonderful work in local area.”

“We pay several thousand pounds a year in private parking fees to enable all our own staff to park well away from the surgery. This frees up space in front of the surgery, which more often than not, is then hijacked by customers of other shops”

“In addition, we have tried several measures over the last 10 years to stop people parking on our land including painting and labelling the bays and erecting warning signs but all to no avail”

Darran added: “The parking problems are affecting our business because our clients have told us they are put off by not being able to park in front of our surgery.

“This means that either they go elsewhere or even worse, put it off a couple of days, which means the animal in question will not be treated and remain in pain.”

We hope this helps all our clients visiting the Halesowen surgery – parking has just got a lot easier!
