Canine Donor Eligibility

  • Age between 1 and 8 years
  • Weigh over 25kgs - 55lbs lean body weight
  • Be in a good general health
  • Fully vaccinated*
  • Not to be taking certain medication
  • Have no history of heart murmur, seizures or fainting episodes
  • Have no history of travelling abroad
  • Have never received a blood transfusion
  • Have a good temperament

*Dog’s cannot give blood up to 14 days after their annual booster

Can You Help?

We are currently organising a blood drive for DEA negative blood. Below is a list of preferred breeds as they are most likely to have this blood type needed, however any dog can donate as long as they meet the criteria.

  • Border Collies
  • Boxer
  • Doberman
  • Dogue de Bordeaux
  • English Bull Terriers
  • Flat Coated Retrievers
  • Greyhounds
  • German Shepherds
  • Lurchers
  • Old English Sheep Dogs
  • Pointer (English)
  • Weimaraners
