February is National Pet Dental Health Month

Just as us humans… pets suffer from a broad range of oral problems and complications.

Caring for your pet’s teeth is an extremely important part of preventive health care, regardless of the type of pet.

A regular dental home care programme can help prevent gum disease occurring and for maximum protection toothbrushing should be performed daily

Here are a few home care tips for keeping your pet’s teeth healthy.

  • Introduce brushing slowly. Get your do used to the taste of toothpaste and its mouth being handled.
  • Start brushing at the canine teeth and back teeth. Only when your dog is used to the toothbrush, include brushing the incisors as the front of the mouth is more sensitive.
  • Only go as far as the dog is happy with and gradually build up the amount of time spent brushing.
