IT’S VETERINARY NURSING AWARENESS MONTH!

Posted: 10th May 2019

Keep a look out throughout 'May' to see what our Registered Veterinary Nurses and nursing support staff "get up to" on a daily basis.

Story

Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month helps create awareness of the importance of the veterinary nursing profession and provision of responsible pet care.

Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM) was originally started by BVNA in 2005 as National VN Day and has since progressed into National VN Week, followed by a whole month campaign since 2012 to join us in spreading the word about the importance of the role of the veterinary nurse in practice and the provision of responsible pet care to the general public.

The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) was formed in 1965. It is the only representative organisation for veterinary nurses and other veterinary support staff in the UK.

Mission Statement

“The aim of the British Veterinary Nursing Association is to promote animal health and welfare through the on going development of professional excellence in veterinary nursing”.

The BVNA undertakes to:

  • Represent the veterinary nursing profession and specifically its members
  • Develop, provide and monitor continuing professional development for veterinary nurses
  • Provide education and training for associated individuals and allied professionals
  • Promote the veterinary nursing profession and work proactively with other organisations and professions to shape its future development
  • Disseminate advice and guidance to its members
