Exotic species are becoming more common as captive animals in the UK, and vary from traditional companion species such as rabbits and budgies, to highly complex and valuable working and exhibition animals like falcons and eagles.
Not only do these species have very different anatomy and physiology to domestic pets but they often have complex husbandry requirements and captive management can be a factor in many pathologies. Our team of vets are familiar not only with the veterinary management of exotics but have a wide range of personal experience in aviculture and falconry as well as management and breeding of reptiles and exotic mammals.
Our Edgbaston branch has been refurbished to a high standard with purpose-built separate hospital wards for predatory and prey exotic species, designated isolation facilities and handling equipment designed to manage these non-domestic species safely. On-site diagnostics allow rapid assessment and management of cases. Our veterinary and nursing staff are fully trained to deal with a huge variety of non-traditional species.
The 24 hour service provided by Manor Vets includes emergency care of exotic species and we have exotics vets available at all times to provide advice on exotic animal veterinary care and accept referred cases if necessary.
