Two miles outside the city centre Birmingham Nature Centre is home to 130 species of animal including red pandas lemurs meerkats snakes and lizards...
We treat all the animals at BNC, it’s a wide variety and they are well cared for in very good enclosures by their dedicated staff. We also treat their venomous snakes (with great care!) We would highly recommend visiting here for a great day out. The entrance fee is very reasonable for what is there.
Each year, thousands of cats, dogs, small pets and horses turn to Blue Cross's animal hospitals, clinics and rehoming services for treatment and to find them the happy homes they deserve. Meanwhile, their Education and Behaviour Teams prepare future pet owners to take responsibility and look after their pets for life.

Headed up by Michelle Clark who prior to the launch of DOTS back in 2016 had already been running a street outreach programme for 6 years, tending to the needs of the homeless with dogs, she steadily built up a strong rapport and in depth knowledge of their true needs.
Via Michelle’s extensive work in this area, the true inspiration for DOTS came in the waggy tailed shape of a very special street dog called Poppy who changed Michelle’s life forever. Poppy’s homeless dad was taken very ill and having heard about Michelle’s work made contact to see if she could help with Poppy’s welfare while he moved into accommodation to try and better his health. Michelle took Poppy on, welcoming her into her family (including numerous other furbabies!) like one of her own. And it was this bond that was formed with Poppy that sparked the desire in Michelle to do even more than she was for the homeless doggy owning community, to provide a more permanent and regular service.
Fast forward to now and DOTS operates weekly in London as well as running regular services in other major UK cities with a view to expand even further. With a fully equipped mobile veterinary surgery vehicle allowing ease of access to dogs in need, DOTS ensures all the essential items and services are provided for free each and every week. From food provisions to new harnesses and leads plus training and grooming sessions.
Michelle has been involved in a number of cases where she has been successful in getting homeless people and their dogs off the streets for good and hopes to do more of this in the future, because every body, human or canine, deserves a roof over their heads

A unique animal welfare charity proud to be the oldest welfare charity around.
The RSPCA were the first to introduce a law to protect animals and work hard to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering.
We work with the RSPCA on many cases of cruelty and neglect, often appearing in court as expert witnesses. It’s upsetting work but seeing neglected animals return to health is very rewarding.

The Edward Foundation was founded in March 2011 when a group of people on a Bulldog Owners Forum were made aware of a Bulldog who was being advertised at stud and later for sale on the internet. We could see from the advert photos that he was in a terrible condition. After receiving no help from reporting to the relevant authorities it was decided to raise the funds and get him out of a dire situation.
Once Edward (as we renamed him) was in our possession it was clear he had severe Demodex, was extremely thin and needed a lot of TLC. We handed him over to Bulldog Rescue, where they took much time and devotion to get Edward to full health. He was later rehomed and is enjoying a fantastic life with owners who really care about him. He is now a much loved bulldog and has admirers all around the country!
He inspired us to start this Foundation in his honour, to help the bulldogs at risk of abuse being and used as a commodity. We have helped over 500 bulldogs find loving forever sofas. The Edward Foundation is run by De Randall and Marion Beardall on a day to day basis and our Trustees are De Randall, Marion Beardall and Margaret Cassidy. We rely totally on our wonderful volunteers that run our auction page to raise money & our Area Co-Ordinators that are invaluable. We also have a huge network of foster homes and volunteers that are available at the drop of a hat to help a bulldog in need. We cannot thank them enough for their time, their dedication and their kindness along with our loyal bunch of supporters without whom this Foundation could not exist. The Foundation is now well supported enough to require no help from any outside organisation. We cover all veterinary costs for each bulldog and have forged relationships with many trusted vets around the country that help us with any bulldog requiring medical attention. We work with other rescues [when asked] to take into foster care any bulldogs they may have come into their shelters.
