Shyam had his microchip and also a nail trim. A microchip is a sterile device the size of a rice grain which contains an electronic identification code. This code is represented on an accompanying barcode label, the appearance and number of which is unique to your bird.
The nails of a bird grow continuously, as they do with other animals. Overgrown nails can make perching difficult, as well as painful to owners who handle their birds frequently.
Our Edgbaston branch is also home to our Exotics Team who look after a wide range of species. The surgery has recently undergone a major refurbishment from nose to tail. The changes provide a modern, spacious state of the art facility for non-exotic pets and dedicated facilities for exotic pets as well. This includes separate wards for predatory and prey exotics species, designated isolation facilities and handling equipment designed to manage these non-domestic species safely.
We are fortunate at Manor Vets to have an amazing team of committed, talented and enthusuastic staff.
